DANNY ELFMAN's "Wolfman" [CD] details

This CD will ship on or after 2/23/10.

Benicio Del Toro
Anthony Hopkins
Emily Blunt

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Lawrence Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate. As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself…one he never imagined existed.

The classically Gothic, Transylvania-flavored score is by Danny Elfman.

Universal opens THE WOLFMAN nationwide on February 12.

The International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) is an association of online, print and radio journalists who specialize in writing about original film and television music.

The IFMCA was originally formed in the late 1990s as the now-defunct “Film Music Critics Jury” by editor and journalist Mikael Carlsson, a regular contributor to filmmusicradio.com and filmmusicmag.com, and the owner of the Swedish independent film music label MovieScore Media.

Since its inception, the IFMCA has grown to comprise over 50 members from countries as diverse as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Previous IFMCA Score of the Year Awards have been awarded to Alexandre Desplat’s THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON in 2008, Dario Marianelli’s ATONEMENT in 2007, James Newton Howard’s LADY IN THE WATER in 2006, John Williams’ MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA in 2005 and Michael Giacchino’s THE INCREDIBLES in 2004.

The IFMCA strives to encompass and champion all genres of musical scoring and the composers who excel in them. Running the gamut of writing for theatrical movies to music for video games, composers all have the same job and that is to enhance the vision of their project with music. As such, the IFMCA acknowledges the broad spectrum of ways in which artists can write unique and varied music for their medium.

HANS ZIMMER to score the latest JAMES L. BROOKS comedy

I guess one can't really expect any musical surprises here as Zimmer's romantic / comedy output during the last 5 years or so, has been generally moving onto the same direction.

Quoting from the source, moviescoremagazine.com:
"Hans Zimmer has been tapped to score another film for veteran director James L. Brooks, tentatively titled How Do You Know? Brooks and Zimmer worked before on three films, including As Good As It Gets – and joining the two from that 1997 success is actor Jack Nicholson, who has tops the cast together with Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson. ANDREA GUERRA's "Extraordinary Measures" on [CD]

LAKESHORE RECORDS TO RELEASE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK FOR EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES Inspirational Drama Features Original Music By Andrea Guerra

(January 12, 2010- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the original soundtrack for the inspirational drama Extraordinary Measures, available digitally (iTunes and Amazon Digital) on January 19th and in stores on February 2, 2010. Andrea Guerra (Nine, Hotel Rwanda) composed the original music.

Andrea Guerra was born in October 1961 in the northern Italian town of Santarcangelo di Romagna. After studying composition and arrangement under maestro Ettore Ballotta, he moved to Rome where he began his career composing music for nature documentaries. He soon turned his hand to film music, writing his first score for the 1990 movie Viaggio d'Amore starring Omar Sharif and Lea Massari.

Since then, Guerra has written more than 70 scores and worked with a host of directors from his native Italy and abroad including Rob Marshall, Terry George, Griffin Dunne, Zhang Yuan, Gabriele Muccino, Ferzan Ozpetek, Marco Bechis, Giuseppe Bertolucci and Pepe Danquart. His credits include The Accidental Husband, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Hotel Rwanda, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe® Award and a Grammy®.

Extraordinary Measures marks the first time Guerra has worked with director Tom Vaughan. “Even though it was the first time we'd worked together, there was an immediate rapport which made it simple to find the right kind of musical themes for the film,” said Vaughan. “And I must say, it was also a really fun experience, playing around with ideas on the piano at Tom's house, his music-mad dog howling away in the background...”

Extraordinary Measures is inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family's future to pursue a cure for his children's life threatening disease. From his working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (Keri Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford).

Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug. One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system – and time. But, at the last minute, when it appears that a solution has been found, the relationship between the two men faces a final test - the outcome of which will affect the fate of John's children.

CBS Films presents Extraordinary Measures, in theaters on January 22, 2010. Extraordinary Measures original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on January 19th and in stores on February 2, 2010.

JOHN POWELL's "GREEN ZONE" gets a release on CD

GREEN ZONE
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Music Composed by John Powell
Matt Damon

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences. During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission. Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

Another veteran of the Bourne team is composer John Powell, who contributes an adrenaline-pumping score.

Universal Pictures opens GREEN ZONE nationwide on March 12.

Hrithik Roshan Is Superhero Of Darsheel Safary In Bollywood

After playing a dyslexic child in "Taare Zameen Par", Darsheel Safary will be seen as a superhero in his forthcoming film "Zokkomon", which is about extraordinary powers. The 13-year-old is happy to fulfil his fantasy, but hopes to be granted the powers in real life too.

"Hrithik Roshan is my superhero in Bollywood. He is a good dancer, has a very good body and is a great actor. I really want to work with him. I feel great and fortunate to fulfil my fantasy. I wish to help the world if granted these superpowers in real life too," Darsheel told here.

"'Zokkomon' is a completely different movie. The experience was very different as 'Taare Zameen Par' was an emotional movie and this is an adventure-action film," he added.

Amitabh Bachchan Was One Of The Pioneers Of Satellite TV?

Amitabh Bachchan, who plays a media mogul in his forthcoming film Rann, says he is well-versed with the business as he was among the pioneers of satellite television in the West, many, many years before it came to India.

"I was one of the pioneers of satellite television in the United Kingdom and New York. We ran Asian television there. We were actually the first ones who did that many, many, many years ago before satellite television came here. So, yes, I know how it works and how it functions," Bachchan told in an interview here.

"But now, of course, it has become a huge industry. It's a very intricate process, a very difficult task and extremely competitive. I have been to some of the (news) studios and I have seen how they function - (it's) a massive task," he added.

Bachchan had endorsed one of the first satellite Asian TV channels in Britain in the early 1990s - TV Asia before it was taken over by ZEE Network.

The megastar clarifies that "Rann", which releases Jan 29, is pro-media and not at all about media bashing as has been reported.

"It's a little premature for the media to think like this, but you know 'Rann' is a very pro-media film. In the film what I do as part of the media (industry) is nothing dishonourable. I (have been) put across as a very honourable person and whatever I do is very pro-media."

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, "Rann" is about business and consciousness in electronic media and the moot point of the film is what edges the other.

"Whether business wins over consciousness or otherwise, that would always depend upon the owner of the channel and that's the crux of the story. It's a battle between business and consciousness.

"Does Mr.Vijay Harshvardhan Malik (played by Amitabh in the film), who is a symbol of purity and integrity, succumb to things like 'I don't care about business, I want to keep my consciousness' or 'to hell with conscience, I will have to save my business'; that's what the story will be," said Amitabh.

The actor also said that he didn't borrow any mannerisms from media personalities like Prannoy Roy or Rajdeep Sardesai.

"I don't try imitating any particular action of anybody. I try to be myself," said Amitabh, but added Ram Gopal Varma might have taken inspiration from the two while creating a character.

"These are elements which we see every day. Yes, when we are making a film on electronic media, it is very difficult to ignore them (Prannoy or Rajdeep) or not be inspired by them."

While Amitabh appreciates the positive impact of the media, he maintains that it is not flawless.

"Media is a very powerful medium. It's the voice of the nation. It informs and also forms opinion. It has the power to be able to influence you in forming a decision. It has a power to change governments... Now, when one entity has so many powers, are there any drawbacks? Are there any loopholes there? Do people use them or misuse them? These are some of the issues that the film deals with," he said.

The actor, who recently criticised the paid news syndrome in an interview, said the media is not solely responsible for such practice where the source of information is kept under wraps.

"Somebody has to bring the concept. You are the medium and they have to publish it or broadcast it. It is your decision whether you want to do it or not. One doesn't mind provided there is a disclosure. Disclose what you are doing, then it is fine. If it is made transparent, I don't see any harm. Let everybody have some kind of transparency."

Minissha Lamba Finally Made Her Dream Purchased?

Minissha Lamba finally made her dream purchase. She bought her first house last month at Andheri’s Raj Classique, which also houses celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Abbas Tyrewala, Satish Kaushik and Shahid Kapoor, all of whom will be Minissha’s neighbours now.

Minissha bought her three-bedroom apartment after looking for a house for six months. She had looked for a place all over Yari Road, Four Bungalows, Versova only to be disappointed. She even thought of giving up in between.

She hadn’t even thought of looking in this building because she didn’t believe she’d find a flat for sale. And when she did find it by chance, she fell in love with it straightaway.

She thinks it’s important to have a flat of your own when you’re single. She will be doing the interiors of her house herself.

Kangna Ranaut Enjoyed National Award Over 22 Wine Bottles?

After her victory as the Best Supporting Actress for Fashion at the National Awards, Kangna Ranaut is riding high.

She got a pleasant surprise yesterday at around 4 in the evening, when a Delhi-based fan of hers, Sameer, sent her a huge gift hamper to congratulate her for her National Award win.

The hamper contained three boxes – one that had 22 wine bottles, one with 22 cakes of different types and sizes, and one with 22 accessories like earrings, bangles, bracelets, etc.

The hamper also contained a note from the fan which said, “22 because you are 22-year-old and a National Award is no mean achievement at such a young age.” Now, isn’t that mind-blowingly sweet?

Anushka Sharma Is Using Bum Bags For Heavy Butts?

Actress Anushka Sharma, who is working with Shahid Kapoor on Parmeet Sethi’s untitled film, is taking a leaf out of her co-star’s book. Following in Shahid’s footsteps, she is wearing bum bags for her role in Patiala House.

For Parmeet’s film, she needed to be thin and well-toned. However, while shooting for Patiala House opposite Akshay Kumar, where she plays a Punjabi girl, she had to be a little full and heavy on the lower body.

To look full in the Punjabi outfits she needs to wear for the film, like patiala salwars and short kurtis, designer Jaimal Odedra had to suggest bum bags. A bum bag is a small pouch of fabric that is secured with a zipper and is worn at the waist, held in place by a strap.

However, Jaimal has denied suggesting them to her and stated that she looks perfect even without them.

Katrina Kaif Planed To Get Married In 2012?

Katrina Kaif is certain. She will get married in 2012. Until then, she wants to have a blast while doing all the projects she has lined up.

Her current films, Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Dostana 2 with Tarun Mansukhani will keep the lady on her toes this year.

That also means she has stopped looking for a new house. She states that first of all, she has a comfortable home so there is no reason to look for a new house. And anyway, she will be going to her husband’s home once she’s married.

Now, even though Katrina has a gut feeling about getting hitched in 2012, what she can’t be sure of is if the groom will be her current boyfriend Salman Khan or another actor or someone she hasn’t met yet.

Priyanka Chopra Was Not Expecting The National Award?

At 4 a.m. in New York Saturday, the last thing Priyanka Chopra was expecting to hear was that she had won her first National Film Award. She jumped out of bed in sheer joy when she got the news.

"It feels soooooo fantastic! It's 5 in the morning here (New York) and my phone has been ringing non-stop since about an hour. I am so excited, " Priyanka told over the phone from New York, where she has been shooting for Siddharth Anand's "Anjaana Anjaani".

The 27-year-old has won her first ever National Film Award for her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion". She says she is glad that she agreed to do the film.

"When Madhur approached me for this film, I was terrified about how complex the character was. But I am glad that I did it, " she said.

Though Priyanka has already won several awards including a Filmfare best actress award for her portrayal of a struggling model in the film, she says the National Award is most special.

"This is a National Award! I was just not expecting this and especially because there are several regional films and actors competing for it. One can't keep track of the nominations at all. But this feels just great. After having won 15 awards for 'Fashion' so far, I feel I have come full circle with this one, " she said.

Instead of celebrating her success, the actress says she was looking forward to the morning shoot scheduled for "Anjaana Anjaani", in which she is featuring opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

"I have a shoot tomorrow morning. So I just want to sleep right now so that I wake up fresh. I will be in a mood for celebration, but the shooting will definitely happen. It is my bread and butter - and also what will hopefully - yes hopefully, fetch me my next National award, " she joked.

Priyanka, who made her Bollywood debut in 2003, says she received the most special congratulatory call from her parents. Her father Ashok Chopra had shed tears after watching "Fashion" in 2008 because he was touched with his daughter's performance, and he cried now again after hearing about her victory.

"My father called me up and said he is ecstatic and extremely proud of me. He had tears again. He is happy because I have achieved so much in such a short span of my career, and that makes him really proud, " she added.

Priyanka, who won the Miss World title in 2000, made her Bollywood debut with "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy" and then featured in "Andaaz", for which she even won a Filmfare best female debut award.

In 2004, she delivered a critically acclaimed performance in "Aitraaz" and later did commercial films like "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi", "Bluffmaster", "Krrish", "Don - The Chase Begins Again", "Salaam-E-Ishq", et al. But it was "Fashion" that brought her into the league of top-rated actresses in Bollywood.

She has, since then, given commercial hits like "Dostana" and "Kaminey" and also featured in films like "What's Your Rashee", and more recently in "Pyaar Impossible", which didn't fare too well at the box office.

She is hoping to strike gold again with "Anjaana Anjaani" and Vishal Bharadwaj's "Seven Husbands".

Mallika Sherawat's Brother Stoped Her For Stripping?

Mallika Sherawat’s older brother, Vikram Lamba, got a little protective of his younger sister on the sets of Hissss. He blasted the crew for making Mallika wear a skin-coloured, flimsy bikini.

The shot was being done on a dark, cold night. Director Jennifer Lynch’s plan was to take Mallika’s close-ups and full body shots of a naked body double. Mallika had to lean on a branch.

However, Vikram, one of the producers of the film, walked in and shouted at the crew to stop the shooting. The body double ran off to the vanity van while Vikram exploded and told the crew members that Mallika would not wear such a bikini.

Vikram’s co-producer on the film, Govind Menon, tried to make Vikram understand but the latter remained stubborn. The shooting came to a halt for more than two hours as the producers fought.

While Mallika told her brother that she was ok with the outfit, he still didn’t relent. It was only when her bikini was replaced by a longer, skin-coloured bikini which was better than the previous one that he finally agreed.

Though Rakesh Rathore, the executive producer of the film, denies such an incident, it has been confirmed by sources.

HOWARD SHORE to score the third TWILIGHT Movie

I'd have never thought that such a mediocre franchise as Twilight would give us a quirky dark score by Carter Burwell, a wondrous and sentimental melodic trip from Alexandre Desplat and now a score by the Lord of the Rings composer, Howard Shore.

It’s fascinating news really, as everyone is satisfied. Both the zombie-like crazy teenage hordes of female fans of Twilight that in the face of the pale and feminine lead vamp they find the true prince of love that understands their feelings and needs unlike the real-life men who are plain pigs and also lovers of quality music can get joy out of such assignment.
