Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik's Marriage's Pictures

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza married to Pakistani cricket player Shoaib Malik on Monday, after a romantic affair that saw the groom forced to get a messy divorce from his first wife days before the wedding.

Sania and Shoaib pose for a picture with their relatives during the wedding ceremony at a five-star hotel Taj Krishna around 1:00 p.m. as per Muslim religious traditions.

The nikah(marriage) was done in the presence of a very selected gathering comprising only the family members of the Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik.

There was a very high drama at Sania mirza's residence as the celebrity left her posh residence at Jubilee Hills accompanied by her parents, Imran Mirza and Naseema Mirza, and sister Anam Mirza.

A close relative of the Mirzas described the ceremony, which lasted for ten minutes as a very simple affair. Family members of Sania mirza and close relatives of shoaib Malik, including his sisters and brothers-in-law attended the wedding function.

Families settled to go ahead with the nikah ahead of the earlier declared wedding date of April 15. Sources said the families steered clear of all possible legal hurdles before going ahead with the ceremony by seeking necessary counsel.

Sania Mirza & Shoaib Malik's Marriage Got Postponed?

Another twist: Sania and Shoaib`s marriage postponed Controversies continue to haunt Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik as their high-profile marriage scheduled for Friday evening has been postponed.

With police not yet returning Shoaib's passport, the qazi expressed his inability to perform the nikah and the two families had no option but to postpone the ceremony, sources close to the families said.

Earlier, the qazi told reporters that nikah would be performed at 7 p.m. Sania Mirza's family members made hectic efforts to get back Shoaib's passport, which was seized by police Monday after grilling him in connection with a criminal case filed by his first wife Ayesha Siddiqui, also of Hyderabad.

Sania's father Imran Mirza met senior police officers, including the one who was handling the case against Shoaib, but they told him that since the passport was deposited with the court, Shoaib would have to retrieve it from there after some formalities.

Qazis in Hyderabad do not perform marriages of foreigners without verifying the passport and no-objection certificates from their respective governments.

Though Ayesha, who was divorced by Shoaib Wednesday, has informed the police that she is withdrawing her complaint, Shoaib would get back his passport only after completing some legal formalities.

Sources said the nikah would now be possible any day before April 15, the day when Sania's family has planned to host a wedding reception at Taj Krishna hotel here.

Sania's family has also sought security for three-day marriage ceremonies at the house, beginning April 13.

Sources in 'Qazat', or a section of Wakf Board, which deals with Muslim marriages, told that the nikahnama or the marriage document to be signed by Sania and Shoaib will clearly mention this is Shoaib's second marriage.

It was only Wednesday that Shoaib divorced his first wife Ayesha, a resident of this city, following mediation by Sania's family members and community elders. Ayesha had filed a police complaint against Shoaib, accusing him of cheating.

The divorce came after the former Pakistani skipper constantly maintained that he did not marry Ayesha Siddiqui but another girl whose photographs she had sent her.

Ayesha claimed the marriage took place over phone in 2002 and even produced a nikahnama with Shoaib's signature on it to prove this. She had even claimed that they stayed as man and wife.

Ayesha also said she became pregnant and had a miscarriage.

The Qazat Wednesday issued 'talaqnama' or divorce certificate after Shoaib signed the papers and paid Rs.15,000 to Ayesha towards her maintenance for three months as per Islamic sharia.

It was only to save Sania from being called his second wife that Shoaib continued denying the marriage but crumbled when Ayesha produced 'solid proof' and he faced arrest in the criminal case, sources said.

Akshay Kumar & Deepika Padukone Are Doing Like Shoaib Malik & Sania Mirza?

Akshay-Deepika doing a Shoaib-Sania? This has to be the most uncanny co-incidence ever to have happened in Hindi cinema

Just when we have Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik being accused of bigamy on the eve of his wedding to Sania Mirza, there is Sajid Khan's Housefull coming up witn situation that bears an uncanny resemblance.

In the comedy Akshay Kumar's wedding to Deepika Padukone is rudely interrupted by a woman, played by Jiah Khan, claiming to be his wife.

When questioned about the similarity Akshay Kumar says, “I never thought of it. Now that you've pointed it out I guess there's a resemblance. Actually I've three women claiming to be my wife in the film.”

But the actual sequence where Akshay's wedding to Deepika is interrupted is too close to the happenings in the life of the Pakistani cricketers and Indian tennis player to be a coincidence.

Protests the director Sajid Khan, “What can I say, except that this is a case of life imitating art? We do have a sequence where Akshay's wedding is interrupted by a woman claiming to be his wife.

Compounding the similarities with the real-life situation which are grabbing headlines is the fact that the first wife's claims are not as simple as they seem.

But I repeat the similarities are coincidental. I wrote my script two years ago.”

Be as it might the similarity between Shoaib Malik's and Akshay Kumar's predicament seem to be a case of perfect timing.

We had threatened to sue them, and now they are turning around and daring us? What wrong have we done to get caught up in a controversy? We only asked for justice."

But Farisa says that although they know Sania’s family well, they won’t try to stop the marriage.

"If they are getting married now, it’s their matter and I don’t want to say anything. I’m just worried for my daughter," she added.
