Akshay's Grandmother Passes Away?

Akki`s grandmother passes away but show goes onAkshay Kumar does it all pays last respects to his naani on Saturday and even promotes latest film

Akshay Kumar's maternal grandmother passed away on Friday.

But the actor did not take the day off as expected but fulfilled his duties at the funeral and also delivered on work commitments made for upcoming film Tees Maar Khan the next day.

Farah confirms, "Akshay went with his naani's ashes to Nashik on Saturday early morning, then headed to the rehearsals for the Zee Awards at the Bandra-Kurla complex. He had to rehearse as he was performing a special sequence. "

That wasn't all. After that, the actor went on to complete the last day dubbing for TMK in Andheri. Farah adds, "After the dubbing, he went to his naani's prayer meet at a gurdwara in Andheri.

Akshay knew he had to be at the TMK beach event in Juhu at 5. 30, so donning a helmet he rode on his bike all the way as he didn't want to get caught in traffic and wanted to be present at the event on time.

What shocked me was that he came at all! He was very close to his naani who lived with them and I didn't expect him to come. "

FK was obviously surprised then, to receive a call from Akki's secretary on Saturday morning, telling her that Akshay would fulfill all his commitments. "Most stars come up with the weirdest excuses asking to postpone or cancel shoots. But he had a valid excuse to cancel, didn't. "

Says a source close to the actor, "He always adheres to his dad's words: 'No matter what happens to any of us, the show must always go on. '

That's what he has always done and what he will always do. Unable to keep his grief bottled up any more at his beloved naani's death, Akshay broke down at her prayer meeting on Saturday. "

Akshay Kumar Will Not Do A Faltu Film Even In Rs 15 Crore

Akki won`t do Faltu film even for Rs 15 croreBollywood star Akshay Kumar is known to be a professional when it comes to money but he surprised everyone by denying a lucrative offer from producer Vashu Bhagnani. The producer has reportedly offered the star a whopping amount of Rs 15 crore for starring in his upcoming movie titled Faltu.

Bhagnani is trying by all means to revive the career of his son Jackky Bhagnani. He is following the path of veteran filmmaker Raj Kumar Kohli, who used to cast all the leading heroes in his films to boost the career of his son Armaan Kohli. Now, Vashu is following the same path.

Akshay was offered this huge amount of Rs 15 crore only to work for 10 days in Bhagnani's Faltu, which will star his son Jacky. But Akshay has refused to accept the offer politely saying that he is in dearth of dates now.

Well, Akshay is right because he already has so many projects in hand so it would have been an impossible task for him to manage all of them at the same time. He is already working on Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan and hosting the Star Plus' show 'Master Chef India'.

There is buzz that initially Vashu approached Sanjay Dutt with an undisclosed amount. But Dutt had reportedly declined it because Vashu did not sign his manager Dharam Oberoi's daughter, Neha. Then Vashu forwarded the offer to Bollywood's 'khiladi' but his bad luck that Akshay also rejected it.

Remo will be directing the movie Faltu with Jacky as the leading hero. Vashu is trying to re-launch his son Jacky, whose debut film Kal Kissne Dekha was a flop last year.

Now, reports say that Vashu has deleted the character, which he wanted Sanjay or Akshay to play.

Is he thinking to cast Jacky as the lone hero now? If this is the case then Vashu is surely taking another huge risk with his money!

Really Sonam Kapoor Is Akshay Kumar's Latest Victim?

Bollywood is a place of insecurities and where competition is rife. Stars vie with each other to come up looking better, especially in a multi-starrer! The lovely Sonam Kapoor is a tense lady these days.

She was slated to do Anees Bazmee's Thank You along with Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Irrfan Khan, Suniel Shetty and Celina Jaitley. The film went on the floors some time ago and shooting is on in full swing.

Surprisingly, Sonam hasn't received any intimation as to when she is to shoot. Though shooting commenced, she hasn't been asked to report on the sets.

Reportedly, she fears that Akshay Kumar must have axed some portions of her role. Akshay has been notorious for chopping his co-stars roles in the past.

It was rumoured that Akki has done that in order to keep the focus on his character. Apparently, they were miffed with him for reducing their screen time.

The actor had then jokingly quipped that maybe he should turn editor! Lets hope that Sonam's anxiety was unnecessary and that all is well in Thank You.

Akshay Kumar Is Going To Be A Director

Akshay Kumar to turn director? He had written "Namastey London", turned producer with his Hari Om Productions and has of course acted in umpteen actioners and comedies. Now Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says he may wield the megaphone as well after a few years.

"I wrote 'Namastey London'. I had given the concept of 'Waqt - The Race Against Time'. I don't sit and write a story. I meet people and if their stories touch me, I try putting them on the big screen. In 'Namastey London', the character is real. He is a friend of mine from Jalandhar. It happened to him, " Akshay told in an interview.

Talking about his directorial plans, he said: "As of now, no. But you never know. Three years back, if you would have asked me whether I will produce a film, I would have said no. But then I became a producer...anything can happen in this industry. After three-four years, I might direct a film as well."

Akshay's next film "Housefull" releases Friday and director Sajid Khan presents him as "the world's unluckiest guy". But the actor says he has been quite lucky in real life.

"I have been lucky with my life. I made a good career. I didn't have any godfather in the industry. Whatever I have achieved in life is because of my luck and a little bit of hard work, " Akshay told.

"I am playing a very unlucky man in the film. He believes his luck will change when he finds true love and gets married. So he starts searching for the right girl. It's total entertainment, " the actor said.

Shot in Britain, Italy, Hong Kong and India, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan, Arjun Rampal and Riteish Deshmukh. Akshay says he's never given a thought to why most comedies are multi-starrers.

"I never sat down to analyse why it's like that, but a lot of people want two, three actors together when they make comedies. Nowadays when you are doing a comedy, you are not a hero, you become a character.

That's the best part about doing a comedy. You have to act not only as a hero but also as a comedian and as an entertainer. There may be more points in it, so they choose to make it a multi-starrer, " said Akshay.

From his first film "Saugandh" (1991) to "Housefull", Akshay has come a long way and in his almost two decades-long journey he has tried every genre, but feels he still has cope to explore.

"There are a few genres, which people can actually do. But these genres, be it comedy or tragedy, are so vast that more you explore it, you realise there is something you have yet to do. Comedy has different angles, romance has different angles; so it's never ending. I would like to do a horror comedy, " said Akshay.

He is known for doing all stunts himself. Asked if he ever felt scared, he said: "I fear doing every stunt. I think one should fear because then you take double care of your safety. There is a good fear and a bad fear. There is a good fear with me, which tells me to do the stunts but safely."

Akshay Kumar & Deepika Padukone Are Doing Like Shoaib Malik & Sania Mirza?

Akshay-Deepika doing a Shoaib-Sania? This has to be the most uncanny co-incidence ever to have happened in Hindi cinema

Just when we have Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik being accused of bigamy on the eve of his wedding to Sania Mirza, there is Sajid Khan's Housefull coming up witn situation that bears an uncanny resemblance.

In the comedy Akshay Kumar's wedding to Deepika Padukone is rudely interrupted by a woman, played by Jiah Khan, claiming to be his wife.

When questioned about the similarity Akshay Kumar says, “I never thought of it. Now that you've pointed it out I guess there's a resemblance. Actually I've three women claiming to be my wife in the film.”

But the actual sequence where Akshay's wedding to Deepika is interrupted is too close to the happenings in the life of the Pakistani cricketers and Indian tennis player to be a coincidence.

Protests the director Sajid Khan, “What can I say, except that this is a case of life imitating art? We do have a sequence where Akshay's wedding is interrupted by a woman claiming to be his wife.

Compounding the similarities with the real-life situation which are grabbing headlines is the fact that the first wife's claims are not as simple as they seem.

But I repeat the similarities are coincidental. I wrote my script two years ago.”

Be as it might the similarity between Shoaib Malik's and Akshay Kumar's predicament seem to be a case of perfect timing.

Catch Aishwarya Rai & Akshay Kumar's Saturday Night Fever

More than 30 years after he made women weak in the knees with his pelvic thrusts in the 1977 hit "Saturday Night Fever", Hollywood star John Travolta has found an Indian avatar in Akshay Kumar, who has done some similar moves in the upcoming movie "Action Replayy".

A self-confessed Travolta and retro music fan, Akshay boasts of having watched the trend setting film number of times. He shakes a leg on Travolta's dance moves from "Saturday Night Fever" in a song in the romantic retro trip movie alongside Aishwarya Rai.

"The 1970s was full of energy, that is the reason why retro is hip. There is something about the fashion and music of that era which makes it so funky even today and perhaps it will always be that way, " Akshay said in a statement.

Directed by Vipul Shah, the time-travel caper is weaved around a story that progresses backwards in time.

Akshay and Aishwarya will be seen together after five years on the big screen. They were last paired opposite each other in Raj Kumar Santoshi's "Khakee".

Akshay Told Only Hot Katrina Kaif For Tees Maar Khan

There were reports that the title of "Tees Maar Khan" may go through a change as lead actor Akshay Kumar was not happy with it. But producer Shirish Kunder says the whole controversy was "fabricated".

"Perhaps pages were required to be filled in and a news around our film made for a spicy story. I guess someone just fabricated an entire article about Akshay being unhappy with the title, " said Kunder about the film which will be directed by his wife, Farah Khan.

The filmmaker, who has earlier directed Akshay in "Jaan-E-Mann", said: "Do you know that most of the compliments that we have received so far on the film have been around the title? There is no point changing it since it truly reflects the spirit of the film. If it had to change, it would have happened by now."

Many felt that the word Khan in the title would indicate some kind of connection with one of the top 'Khan' actors, something that didn't quite amuse Akshay.

"How idle minded can people get? Arrey, when you spell a word in Hindi, it has to be 'Khan' and not 'Kha'. Now we can't have our title as 'Tees Maar Khan' which would then lead people to say '....maar kha', get beaten up.

"Come on, it's a plain and simple humorous title that conveys the real spirit of the film. Our intention is not to create any controversy whatsoever."

Kunder's debut production has been surrounded by controversies since it was announced late last year.

If Farah Khan opting for Akshay instead of Shah Rukh Khan wasn't a good enough reason to set tongues wagging, there was a toss up for the leading lady between Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor.

"Well, there were quite a few top names in consideration as well as newcomers. But then no one was approached per se. Once we decided that Katrina Kaif was the best fit, we finalised her, approached her and got her on board. It's as simple as that. Anything else that was said or heard was plain speculation, " said Kunder.

Shooting of "Tees Maar Khan" will start March 1 and the filmmaker is planning to wrap it up by August.

Also starring Akshaye Khanna in a big role, "Tees Maar Khan" has music by Vishal and Shekhar and has already confirmed its global release date Dec 24.

This will be the first time in three years without an Aamir Khan film releasing on Christmas Eve. So this slot was up for grabs.

Christmas Eve releases in the last three years have been "Taare Zameen Par" (2007), "Ghajini" (2008) and "3 Idiots" (2009) -- all huge Aamir Khan successes.
