Amrita Rao attended Canossa School in Mumbai, and later entered school in Sofia, to pursue a degree in psychology. While studying there, she auditioned for advertising Fair Ever personality Cream. Its appearance in Perk Karwa advertising Cadbury's Chaut and the Bru Coffee advertisement helped her receive offers from film directors in Bollywood.
